The Determinants of Consumers’ E-Waste Recycling Behavior through the Lens of Extended Theory of Planned Behavior

Cutting-edge technological advancements have turned many electronic devices into waste within a short time of usage. Electronic (e-waste) has become global problem. Due to the adverse impact e-waste on environment and human health, regulatory system for effective collection treatment disposed by community business sectors is in dire need. In an attempt address setbacks cope with issues, this study determined factors that influence recycling intentions (ERIs) behavior (ERB) among consumers Malaysia through lens extended theory planned (TPB) model. Via online survey, 159 questionnaires were collected from targeted respondents aged 18 years above identified using purposive sampling method. The structural equation modeling (SEM) approach was deployed data analysis. As result, moral obligation (MO) emerged as most significant factor toward ERI, followed perceived convenience (PC). Next, ERI displayed effect ERB. multi-group analysis (MGA) outcomes revealed group differences education variables, signifying lower/middle more easily influenced perform ERB than higher group. Essentially, contributes aspects especially enhancing awareness issues emphasizing broad knowledge about recycling. This provides practical implications government, policymakers all stakeholders, including consumers, non-government agencies, collectors, retailers, facilities. may be considered when formulating laws regulations enhance efforts guarantee sustainable ecosystem future.
